Class Specs

LOW HUNTER: Open to horses & ponies with any age rider. Judged on manners, performance & soundness. Extreme speed shall be penalized. Horse & rider combination may not cross enter any other Hunter division. Fences not to exceed 2'.

PONY HUNTER: Open to ponies only, with riders U/18.Judged on manners, performance & soundness. Extreme speed shall be penalized. Horse & rider combination may not cross enter any other Hunter division.Fences not to exceed 2'.

OPEN HUNTER: Open to horses & ponies with any age rider.Judged on manners, performance & soundness.Extreme speed shall be penalized. Horse & rider combination may not cross enter any other Hunter division.Fences not to exceed 2'6"

SHORT STIRRUP: Open to ponies only, with riders U/16.Judged on manners, performance & soundness.Extreme speed shall be penalized. Horse & rider combination may not cross enter any other Hunter division.Fences not to exceed 18".

BEGINNER: Open to horses & ponies with any age riders, in their first year of showing over fences. May trot or canter the course.

Judged on manners, performance & soundness. Extreme speed shall be penalized.Fences not to exceed 18". These classes count for year end awards only.

HALTER: Entries are to be judged individually, standing, then walk and jog/trot on the line and must be serviceably sound. Emphasis shall be on the type and conformation with consideration given to the horses ability to move correctly. If entries warrant, class will be divided into mares & geldings.

4-H FITTING & SHOWMANSHIP: Same specs. as Showmanship. Handlers must be a current 4-H member, showing his/her own project.

SHOWMANSHIP: Only the handler is judged. The horse is a prop to show the ability to prepare the animal for the show ring and his ability to show the animal to his best advantage. Conformation defects or blemishes on the animal should not count against, nor should a clean well fitted halter be judged any less than a silver laden halter. Handlers preparation is 50% of the judging and handlers ability is judged 50%. A pattern may be posted, judged discretion. If entries warrant, will divide into Jrs & Srs.

WALK/TROT: To be shown at a walk and jog/trot both ways of the ring. Will be divided if entries warrant into section A & B. Riders may not cross enter any other classes requiring a canter/lope.

JUDGED LEAD LINE: For riders 10 years & under, or any age rider, with a disability. Handlers must be 14 years or older. Judge may ask for jog/trot and backing. Shall be judged on riders ability to handle the horse.

SPECIAL: Open to horses & ponies with any age rider. For riders in their first year of showing at a canter/lope. This is not a closed division, riders may enter any other loping/cantering classes or divisions.

GREEN HORSE: Open to horses & ponies with any age rider.For horse/ponies who are 5 years old & under. To be shown at a walk, jog/trot and canter/lope. May be required to back.If entries warrant will divide into 2/3 yr. old and 4/5 yr. olds.

OPEN: Open to horses & ponies with any age rider. To be shown at a walk, jog/trot and canter/lope both ways of the ring. Extreme speed shall be penalized. May be required to back or perform additional work, at judges discretion.

MQHA: Open to Reg. Quarter Horses only. To accrue MQHA points, you must be a current member of MQHA and CCHC and attend a min. of 4 CCHC shows held @ CJ's Ranch. This is a MQHA year end award only.

JR. LIMITED: Open to junior riders 15&U who have not won 6 blue ribbons at a judged horse show prior to 2002.

JUNIOR DIVISION: For horses & ponies with riders 15 and under.

SENIOR DIVISION: For horses & ponies with riders 16 and over.

IN HAND TRAIL: For horses & ponies 2 years and under, or for any aged mini. To be shown in hand, over the trail course. To be judged just like a trail class.

TIMED GAME DIVISION: Will be divided into Jrs. (15 & under) with a 2D format, Srs.(16 & over) with a 2D format. All game patterns will be posted. There will be a 5 second penalty for each obstacle knocked down. We do encourage helmets.

LEAD LINE GAMES: Open to any age rider. We do encourage helmets. A 5 second penalty will be added for each obstacle knocked down. Lead line is run in a 1D format only.
